NEXT week’s Tattersalls Online February Sale is headlined by two choice lots aimed at the Southern Hemisphere market, as the British company rejoins forces with Inglis Digital for the third time.

The catalogue features 97 lots overall, with bidding opening at 11am on Tuesday, February 17th, with bidding on the first lot scheduled to close from 11am the following day.

The Castlebridge Consignment will offer both lots in the Southern Hemisphere Session, beginning with the mare Moraless, carrying a Southern Hemisphere cover to champion first season sire Starman, and accompanied by her Southern Hemisphere-bred weanling colt by Too Darn Hot.

Moraless is a Churchill sister to David Livingston (Galileo) and Hunting Horn (Camelot), who won two group races each, and both placed at Group 1 level. Hunting Horn’s Group 2 success is of particular interest to the Australian market, having come in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup.

They are out of a half-sister to the top-class High Chaparral and to the dam of dual Group 1 winner Fancy Blue. Moraless’ Southern Hemisphere-bred weanling colt is one of only 32 foals by Too Darn Hot currently recorded on the Australian Stud Book from the 2025 foaling season.

Another, a filly, is the second lot in the catalogue. Her four winning siblings include Cornwallis Stakes victor Abel Handym, the multiple stakes-placed Woody Creek and the 92-rated Kitai. King’s Stand Stakes winner Dominica features further down the page.

While Broadsiding, Fallen Angel and Hotazhell have advertised Too Darn Hot in the Northern Hemisphere, the Darley sire has also been making his presence felt Down Under. His first crop, who are now four-year-olds, include 10 individual stakes winners, while his latest Southern Hemisphere juveniles include two stakes winners from seven runners to date.

Polar opposite

Another highlight of the catalogue, aimed at a completely different market, is Dan Skelton’s talented mare Galia Des Liteaux. A listed winner over hurdlers, the Saddler Maker mare progressed to land a Grade 2 and two listed prizes over fences, and is offered out of training, having suffered a tendon injury in the Becher Chase in December.

Nicky Henderson’s Seven Barrows offers another blacktype jumps mare in Arclight, a dual listed winner over fences, who also scored on the flat and over hurdles.

Promising entries at earlier stages of their careers include Clive Cox’s twice successful and thrice-raced Horwich, a three-year-old gelding by Mayson. Lemos De Souza’s Nando Parrado gelding Marseillan boasts a consistent record, having won or placed on all but one of his six career starts.

Prospective buyers will be more concerned with the progress of Sotchi’s relations, as James Grassick’s mare is a half-sister to Gordon Elliott’s dual graded winner Wodhooh.

The five two-year-olds catalogued include a Blue Point filly out of a blacktype mare from the family of African Rose, Calyx, Distant Music and Native Trail. Mountarmstrong Stud consign the March-born bay as Lot 83.

Six yearlings, three breeding rights and one stallion share also feature in the catalogue, which can be viewed at www.tattersallsonline.com
