THE breeze-up sales enjoyed a fantastic few days at Royal Ascot, with Ten Bob Tony flying the flag in the older division, whilst 2026 graduates won or placed in every single juvenile contest.

Consignors didn’t have long to celebrate, as they put juveniles through their paces at Naas Racecourse on Monday afternoon as part of the Goffs Classic Breeze-Up Sale, with a wait until selling begins at Goffs after racing on Saturday.

The inaugural sale got off to a perfect start 12 months ago, with the very first lot in the ring – a Hello Youmzain colt from Greenhills Farm – bringing €185,000 from Mark McStay’s Avenue Bloodstock.

Named Extremely Zain, he’s stayed perfect since, winning all three starts for William Haggas, most recently winning on handicap debut off a mark of 93, which saw him rise to 102.

He was the second highest-priced horse of the sale, where eight commanded six figures and 39 sold for an average of €65,783.

Those encouraging results have seen this year’s offering grow, with 74 juveniles catalogued to go under the hammer at Goffs from 6.15pm on Saturday.

Horses that breezed at Naas on Monday were available to view at Goffs from 10am on Friday.

For some, this sale offers a second chance after missing earlier sales dates or suffering bad luck previously, but for some later-maturing types, this is their sole target.

The first lot in the catalogue sets the bar high, in terms of pedigree at least – The Bloodstock Connection offer a half-brother to Group 1 winner Consent.

Well-related lots are highlighted below, with the catalogue featuring the progeny of leading sires such as Acclamation, Blue Point, Camelot, Dark Angel, Havana Grey, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Kodiac, Lope De Vega, Mehmas, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea The Moon, Sea The Stars, Showcasing, Sioux Nation, St Mark’s Basilica, Starman, Starspangledbanner and Wootton Bassett.
