THE Cashman family’s Glenview Stud in Fermoy has acquired a new National Hunt stallion from France, Magic Dream.
A son of champion sire Saint Des Saints, Magic Dream was the best three-year-old chaser of his generation in France in 2020. He won the Grade 2 Prix Congress, emulating the influential sire Balko. The outstanding sire Goliath du Berlais was runner-up in the 2018 edition of the Congress.
Standing at 17hh, Magic Dream retired to stud sound in wind and limb. His first crop are three-year-olds this year, with some currently in training with leading French National Hunt trainers including Noël George and Amanda Zetterholm, Mickaël Séror and Guillaume Macaire.
Some notable Irish National Hunt breeders, producers and pinhookers have already given their backing to Magic Dream.
“I have a two-year-old and yearling by Magic Dream. They are two fine, rangy individuals and they are a great advertisement for the sire,” said Denis Cummins of Rathurtin Stud.
Peter Vaughan of Moanmore Stables said: “Magic Dream came highly recommended to me as a sire, and he has not disappointed. Every time you see one by him, you want to buy one. I have both a three-year-old and two-year-old by him. They have excellent temperaments and are very likeable individuals.”
Johnny Collins of Brown Island Stables said: “I was impressed with Magic Dream’s first foals and bought two. I’ve re-invested in his stock every year since. They have nice temperaments and are good and sound to deal with.”
Tim Nolan of Jamestown Stud said: “After viewing and purchasing stock by Magic Dream in France, I was impressed by the calibre of his progeny. We look forward to supporting him at Glenview Stud.”
The Bleahen brothers in Co Galway have also purchased stock by Magic Dream.
