THERE will be added interest in the 2026 Goffs December National Hunt Sale when a “superb” first colt out of legendary racemare Honeysuckle is offered at the foal and breeding stock sale.

Consigned by Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud on behalf of Honeysuckle’s owner Kenny Alexander, the colt is the second foal out of the brilliant dual Champion Hurdler and follows her first foal, a filly by Walk In The Park. This son of Blue Bresil will be part of the offering at Kildare Paddocks from December 7th to 10th.

Molony said “We’re really looking forward to bringing this superb colt to Goffs for the December Sale. He’s a good, scopey colt, a good walker and mover, and we think he should prove very popular. Kenny has made the decision that all the colts will be sold, so it was always the plan for him to go to the sales. We also have a very nice Walk In The Park colt out of Gala Marceau who will be offered.

“We thought Blue Bresil would suit Honeysuckle very well physically and, of course, he has sired eight individual Grade 1 winners. As the saying goes, breed the best to the best and hope for the best.

“That’s the great thing about these mares. You enjoy everything they give you throughout their racing careers and then they continue to provide you with great moments, nice stock and plenty to dream about afterwards. It’s a great honour to be selling a colt like him and it should be very exciting.”

Little Lodge dispersal

It was also revealed this week that leading UK stud Little Lodge Farm will embark on a complete 19-lot dispersal at Goffs’ British NH Breeders Showcase at Doncaster on December 3rd.

Based in Worcestershire, Jackie and the late Robert Chugg developed Little Lodge Farm over several decades into what is now one of Britain’s most respected National Hunt nurseries. During that time the Chuggs have nurtured some wonderful NH families, none finer than the incredible Marello dynasty which features the likes of Ravello Bay, Wyldello, Cogry, Le Milos and Karello Bay.

More recently, Little Lodge has enjoyed further headline success having bred the Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winning hurdler, The New Lion. The 19-lot dispersal will consist of six foals, seven two-year-olds and two stores by sires Blue Bresil, Golden Horn (2), Harzand, Jack Hobbs (3), Nathaniel (2), Planteur, Poet’s Word (2), Ocavango (2) and Vadamos, along with four mares.

Jackie Chugg said: “It has not been an easy decision to disperse the stock, but we feel the timing is right. Over the years Robert and I enjoyed many wonderful successes, both in the sales ring and on the track – it has been a lifelong passion.”
