RATHMORE Stud and Peter Nolan have the largest drafts in the 2026 Goffs Arkle Sale, both consignors entering over 20 horses each for Part 1 of the prestigious store horse sale.
The catalogue for the Arkle Sale was published this week and is slightly bigger than last year. The two-day Part 1 has 467 entries (an increase of four) while the one-day Part 2 section has 264 entries (up 12). Part 1 again includes close to 30 two-year-olds.
Last year’s Part 1 sale yielded a top price of €230,000 and an average of €53,499. The sale’s reputation has been boosted by 10 individual Grade 1 winners in the past season, including Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winners Old Park Star, King Rasko Grey, Johnny’s Jury and The Mourne Rambler.
Punchestown Grade 1 winners Le Frimeur, Western Fold and Eachtotheiorown are also Arkle Sale graduates.
The sale is sure to remain popular with point-to-point handlers, having produced 27 four-year-old maiden winners in the past season.
Among the eyecatching entries this year are half-brothers to Highland Crystal, Fiddlerontheroof, Slade Steel, Tornado Flyer, El Fabiolo, Tiger Roll, Idaho Sun, The Storyteller, Impervious and Home By The Lee.
There is a full-sister to Oldschool Outlaw and half-sisters to Coney Island and Scarlet And Dove.
All three-year-olds catalogued in Parts 1 and 2 are eligible for the €100,000 Goffs Defender Bumper at the 2027 Punchestown Festival where the winning vendor will also win a Defender. Two-year-olds catalogued will be eligible for the 2028 race.
Henry Beeby, Goffs CEO, said: “Ten individual Grade 1 winners bought at the Arkle Sale – trained by 10 different trainers and owned by 10 different owners – is an exceptional achievement and it is wonderful to see the results in the ring translating so emphatically to the racecourse.
“This year marks 30 years of the Arkle Sale, and we are enormously proud of how it has grown and equally excited for what lies ahead. I am assured by our inspection team that, based on the calibre of future talent on offer in this catalogue, the best may be yet to come as our vendors have supported the sale with even more of their best.”
The three-day sale starts at 10am on Tuesday, June 9th.
