Leading National Hunt stallion Jukebox Jury has been euthanised at Burgage Stud in Co Carlow.
A social media post issued by Burgage Stud at lunchtime on Wednesday read: "It is with great sadness that we announce Jukebox Jury has been euthanised due to complications following colic surgery. He had a lovely, kind personality and was a pleasure to work with. He will be greatly missed, but we are thankful he came to Burgage and the impact he has left.
"He is the sire of six individual G1 winners, including a Group 1 winner on the Flat, a feat achieved by few stallions;
- Farclas
- Stuke
- Princess Zoe
- Il Etait Temps
- Honesty Policy
- Bambino Fever"
Trained by Mark Johnston, Jukebox Jury won the Group 1 Preis von Europa and dead-heated for victory in the Group 1 The Irish Field St Leger. He was Group 1-placed as a two-year-old and won seven pattern races during his track days.
By Montjeu, he originally retired to Germany before relocating to Victor Connolly's Burgage Stud in Leighlinbridge. He broke new ground in 2020 as the sire of the popular Group 1-winning mare Princess Zoe.
His son Farclas won the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival and Il Etait Temps won multiple Grade 1 novice chases for him two seasons ago.
Last season his daughter Bambino Fever completed the Cheltenham-Punchestown Grade 1 bumper double and his son Honesty Policy won a Grade 1 novice hurdle at Aintree.
His 2025 published stud fee was €12,500 and he covered a "strictly limited book".
Sea Moon and Fascinating Rock also stand at Burgage Stud.
