The Weatherbys Bloodstock Sales Review – simply a must read
ONLY one stallion, up to October 20th, was represented by over 100 yearlings changing hands in the sales ring in 2019. The Tally-Ho Stud-based Kodiac (Danehill) had 101 lots sell during the past year.
Not surprisingly, progeny by Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) amassed the highest overall sales totalling €22,926,677.
Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) claimed the most expensive yearling title again this year, when the colt out of Alina was knocked down for 3,600,000gns at the Tattersalls October Sale Book 1. There were only five other stallions to produce a seven-figure lot in 2019 with Frankel (Galileo), his sire Galileo, Kingman (Invincible Spirit), Siyouni (Pivotal) and Dark Angel (Acclamation) following suit.
These are just a few of the headline facts contained in The Weatherbys Bloodstock Sales Review 2019 Part 1 that features European yearling sale results and is out now. In total, there are 385 stallions represented in the review, with progeny selling at 33 yearling sales around the world.
Part 2 of the publication covers all horses sold throughout the year (including foals and mares) and is published in January. The two reviews together offer extensive editorial and statistics and feature the sale details of over 14,000 horses.
