FOUR of the top 10 lots during the week of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale were sold by European Sales Management.

Heading their draft was the 825,000gns sale of the Invincible Spirit mare Guerriere, one of a number of buys by Rob Speers for Old Mill Stud. The buyers also landed the Galileo mare Butterscotch, in foal to Justify, for 700,000gns and the Fastnet Rock mare Predawn, carrying to No Nay Never, for 600,000gns.

“We have bought three very nice well-related mares from young families,” said Speers. “They are all going to Old Mill Stud which Mr [Ibrahim] Araci has recently purchased. We are planning to put together a quality broodmare band.”

The stakes-placed Guerriere is in foal to Lope De Vega and is sibling to a pair of Group 1 placed performers, including Soustraction, a Group 3 winner by Ballylinch Stud’s star sire.

European Sales Management sold the listed winner and Grade 1 runner-up Onthemoonagain, a five-year-old daughter of Cape Cross, on behalf of Martin Schwartz for 800,000gns. She was purchased by Kern/Lillingston Association.

Juddmonte made one significant purchase when Dandhu, a daughter of Dandy Man and winner of the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes, sold for 750,000gns by European Sales Management. Her dam Poldhu is a half-sister to Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner Rajeem, herself dam of Invincible Army who will commence a new stallion career in 2020 at Yeomanstown Stud. European Sales Management sold Etoile to Hugo Lascelles for 750,000gns. This Group 3 winning daughter of Siyouni was fourth in the Group 1 French Oaks.
