THE quality is as high as ever in the two catalogues issued by Tattersalls for the first week of the December Sales at Newmarket. They are following the usual programme of offering 200 yearlings (the same number as last year) on the first day, Monday November 27th, with an 11am start.

Then there are 1,147 foals (12 more than in 2016) coming up for sale on the four days from Wednesday, November 29th to Saturday December 2nd, beginning at 10.00 each morning.

As usual, some outstanding talent is catalogued during this first week at Newmarket and among the foals are some of the first crops sired by Free Eagle, Gleneagles, Golden Horn and Night Of Thunder. Other top sires represented include Frankel, Sea The Stars, Oasis Dream, Kingman, Exceed And Excel, Dubawi, Shamardal, Teofilo, Acclamation, Invincible Spirit, Holy Roman Emperor, Nathaniel, New Approach and Pivotal.

Particularly attractive among the foals will be the half-sister to the recent Melbourne Cup hero Rekindling, also the half-brother to Havana Gold and half-sisters to Jack Hobbs and Sea The Moon.

Among the yearlings are half-brothers to Trading Leather and Reliable Man, as well as a half-sister to Barney Roy.
