O’Keeffe buys and sells some top lots

QUANTUM and trainer Jedd O’Keeffe made news on both sides of the fence this week. They sold Jazeel for 160,000gns, but bought seven lots for 482,000gns.

They gave 210,000gns for Pour Moi’s winning son Kiefer, a half-brother to Melbourne Cup runner-up Bauer, from Eve Johnson Houghton’s yard, while earlier they bought another by the same sire, the three-time winner Tavus who was trained by Roger Charlton.

“We’ll get him home and see how he is, but we might consider a juvenile hurdling campaign,” O’Keeffe said of Tavus. Of Kiefer, he said: “This is a lovely horse and came highly recommended by Eve. I am very lucky that Quantum are working with me, putting their trust in me and sending some lovely horses for me to train.”
