AMELIA’S Dance, second two weeks before the sale on her debut in a Southwell bumper for trainer Peter Fahey, was easily the best lot on offer at Tuesday’s Tattersalls Ascot June Sale, and she duly lived up to expectations, selling for £90,000 to Michael Lynch.
The four-year-old daughter of Flemensfirth is out of a half-sister to the Grade 2 winning chaser Mister McGoldrick and she will now join the Co Monaghan yard of trainer Anthony McCann. She previously raced in the colours of Kildare Racing Club and was bred by Kieran Cotter.
Kilcrea Vale won a Bartlemy point-to-point five years ago before joining the Seven Barrows stable of Nicky Henderson. He won three times and earned almost £80,000 for connections before appearing in the ring this week, selling for £37,000 to art dealer Will Ramsey who will now compete the son of Beneficial in hunter chases. Ramsey hopes to win the Grand Military Gold Cup, having been placed in this year’s edition.
Tally-Ho Stud is the new home for River Sands, an unraced three-year-old daughter of Kingman who sold to agent Hamish Macauley for £25,000. The unraced filly was part of the Godolphin consignment and she is a daughter of Group 2 winner The Miniver Rose. With some younger siblings by Dubawi to come on stream, this investment by the O’Callaghan family could pay rich dividends in time.
Though he is now an 11-year-old, the Court Cave gelding Mercers Court retains his form and won last weekend, taking his tally of racecourse victories to 11, adding to a win in a point-to-point as a five-year-old. Placed more than 20 times, he has been a highly consistent performer and now joins trainer Caroline Fryer after his sale for £20,000.
Trainer Fergal O’Brien now takes charge of the five-year-old Dubai Destination gelding Right Destination, runner-up in a maiden hurdle at Killarney after making a couple of starts between the flags. He was sold by owners Michael Ennis and Bernadette Fahey, having been trained in Ireland by Seamus Fahey.
Boosted enormously by the sale of Amelia’s Dance, the sale aggregate rose by 3%, while the average and median both grew by 13%. The clearance rate also bettered that achieved last year. Richard Pugh was pleased with the sale’s conclusion.
