Sundstrom’s love affair continues

EVER since she sold Laurens in the same ring in 2016, Anna Sundstrom has supported the Premier Yearling Sale and this time she kept the best until last.

Bred by her parents, the son of Wootton Bassett out of Miss Vendome is the mare’s second produce. Her first, the Outstrip two-year-old Agent Zero, sold for £65,000 and was placed for Ger Lyons on his third outing, having also posted fair efforts at the Curragh and Galway. This time the colt fell to the bid of Richard Ryan, the sale company’s representative who was acting for an unnamed owner.

Afterwards Ryan did disclose that the colt, who cost £280,000, would be going into training with Roger Varian. The new owner is said to be well-known in both Ireland and Britain, though this will be the first horse they will have in training with Varian.

Sundstrom consigns under Coulonces Sales and the draft contained another pair of six-figure sales. She received £140,000 for a son of Fastnet Rock out of an unraced daughter of Medaglia D’Oro. This was given on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club by their new buying agent Mick Kinane.

Another popular member of the Coulonces draft was the Le Havre filly out of a Green Desert half-sister to listed winning two-year-old Whatdoiwantthatfor. She cost Shadwell Stud £100,000.
