IN 2009 Goffs re-established the title of Orby Sale for their premier yearling auction and this year they have catalogued 862 very high-class lots for the Orby and Sportsman’s Sales, 158 more than last year. There will be a total of 472 yearlings in the Orby Sale on the Tuesday and Wednesday, October 1st and 2nd, 54 more than 12 months ago, but then a much increased number of 390 entries in the Sportsman’s Sale on Thursday, October 3rd, which has a separate catalogue.

This year’s Orby entries include own-sisters to Harry Angel, Sovereign, Forever Together, and Alice Springs, also half-brothers to Phoenix Of Spain and Persuasive.

As usual, most of the top international sires are featured in the Orby catalogue, with Frankel represented by six yearlings and Galileo having nine entries, while there are also eight by Invincible Spirit.

Other stallions with four or more entries include Acclamation, Australia, Camelot, Dark Angel, Exceed And Excel, Fastnet Rock, Gleneagles, Holy Roman Emperor, Iffraaj, Kingman, Kodiac, Lawman, Lope De Vega, Mastercraftsman, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars, Showcasing, Siyouni and Zoffany.

New stallions include Awtaad, Harzand, New Bay, Pride Of Dubai, The Gurkha, Twilight Son and Vadamos.
