Auctav Online Sale

THERE was a poor response to the latest Auctav Online Sale this week, with just three lots selling. Best of the thoroughbreds to trade was a Gemix colt foal out of an unraced daughter of a Maresca Sorrento mare who sold for €14,000

The two-time winner of the Grade 1 Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil, Gemix has made a great start at stud. His oldest runners are just five and already include the blacktype winning jumpers Le Berry and Fureur De Vivre.

This colt is the third produce of his dam and she is a half-sister to three winners, the best of these being Bleu Et Rouge, the Willie Mullins-trained winner of the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle in 2016 when he beat Tombstone, Bellshill and Petit Mouchoir.

Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearling Sale

TWO fillies led the way at this week’s Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearling Sale. Selling for $350,000 was an American Pharoah filly out of an unraced half-sister to the multiple Garde 1 winner Banshee Breeze.

Earlier in the session a filly by Practical Joke realised $300,000. Her dam is a half-sister to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner and Grade 1-placed More Than Real. Ashford Stud’s Practical Joke is off to a good start this year and his first crop includes the Grade 3 winner Wit.

The most expensive colt on the day was a son of Nyquist who sold for $275,000. His sale prospects were boosted by a number of significant updates for his siblings.
