A FEW years ago Tattersalls Ireland reorganised their premier yearling sale at Fairyhouse, now held once again at their more traditional dates in the second half of September. The Part 2 section, requiring two extra days, has dramatically increased the size of the catalogue and that now contains 997 lots, 291 more than in 2015.
All the yearlings in Part 1 will be sold by alphabetical order of their dams on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20th and 21st, with Part 2 held immediately after that, on Thursday and Friday, 22nd and 23rd.
All yearlings sold will be eligible for the €300,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes, to be run at the Curragh in September 2017. Contributions to the air fares of overseas buyers are again available from Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.
Some excellent recent performances by Fairyhouse graduates have added to the appeal of this sale, with Galileo Gold, sold for €33,000 and winner of the 2016 2000 Guineas, Group 1 Prix Morny hero The Wow Signal (sold for only €13,000), Group 1 Coronation Cup victor Pether’s Moon, Premio Regina Elena winner Conselice, German 1000 Guineas stars Hawksmoor and Full Rose some of their recent group winners. Paco Boy became one of the top older milers in Europe, and dual Group 1-winning sprinter Lethal Force was sold here for only €8,500.
Many of this season’s leading sires are represented in the Tattersalls Ireland September catalogue, among them Acclamation, Arakan, Big Bad Bob, Canford Cliffs, Dark Angel, Dream Ahead, Fast Company, Holy Roman Emperor, Intense Focus, Kodiac, Kyllachy, Lawman, Mastercraftsman, Rip Van Winkle, Rock Of Gibraltar, Sea The Stars, Tagula, Zebedee and Zoffany.
Among the new stallions represented at Fairyhouse are Camelot, Epaulette, Havana Gold, Lethal Force, Most Improved, Red Jazz and Society Rock.
