A BREEDING right to leading first season sire Mehmas was sold this week for €195,000. The right allows the purchaser to have one mare covered by Mehmas for as long as he stands at Tally-Ho Stud in Mullingar, or remains under current ownership.

Mehmas has already sired 42 individual winners from his first crop this year and his fee has jumped from €7,500 to €25,000 next year. The purchaser of the breeding right was Haras du Mont-dit-Mont.

The Normandy-based farm also secured a breeding right to Due Diligence for €6,000. The son of War Front has already sired three stakes winners from his first two crops and will stand at Whitsbury Manor Stud for £6,000 in 2021.

A breeding right to the quadruple Group 1 winner Golden Horn attracted a final bid of €42,000 and was knocked down to Select Bloodstock.

A breeding right to Whitsbury Manor Stud’s young resident Havana Grey went the way of Blandford Bloodstock for €19,000. The son of Havana Gold has his first foals heading to the sales and will cover for a fee of £6,000 next year.

A share in Almanzor fell short of vendor’s expectations at €240,000.
