Goffs are staging their fourth auction of point-to-pointers and Horses in Training after racing at Punchestown next Thursday, May 1st, the third day of the Irish National Hunt Festival.

The sale, held in conjunction with Punchestown, which last year had the highest average for any point-to-point sale, will take place in the winners’ enclosure, starting at approximately 7.45pm.

The small but select catalogue will contain details of around 20 to 25 entries, including several wild cards, which will be added until the day of the sale, and will be available from the Goffs marquee next to the weighroom at Punchestown. Horses can be inspected at Punchestown on both the Wednesday afternoon and the Thursday.

The sale has an impressive strike rate of winners, headed this season by Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle winner Royal Boy, as well as Grade 2 winners Mozoltov, Creepy and Timesremembered.

Some of the point-to-pointers are still unbeaten and among the sires of the entries are many of the leading National Hunt sires, including Beneficial, Milan, Network, Oscar, Robin Des Champs, Kayf Tara, Gold Well, Dr Massini, Mahler, Scorpion, etc.

Goffs will also auction a bronze statue of Arkle by Emma McDermott in aid of ChildVision, Ireland’s centre for blind children.

This preview contains only a small selection of early entries, as Goffs are accepting entries until next Wednesday.
