SLIGHTLY smaller than last year with around 290 lots, this year’s Doncaster January Sales catalogue again requires two days, on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21st and 22nd.
The auction by Goffs UK starts with about 150 National Hunt yearlings (foals of 2019), and about 30 broodmares, then on the second day come over 100 horses in training and point-to-pointers.
The vendors include Camas Park Stud, Goldford Stud, Mill House Stud and many well-known trainers.
In this first auction of 2020, Goffs UK covers every aspect of flat and National Hunt racing and breeding, with entries including many winning horses in training on the flat and over jumps.
Among the most attractive lots are the recent graded hurdle winner Soviet Pimpernel, also Keskonrisk and Vanillier from Camas Park. Grade 1 NH winners Benefficient, Darlan, Riverside Theatre, The Liquidator and Wishfull Thinking have all been sold at the Doncaster January Sales in recent years. Prices up to £300,000 and £270,000 have been paid here for horses ready to go jumping.
