Lot: 473 (c) No Nay Never – Hot Legs
Vendor: Brittas House Stud
Purchaser: Kim Valerio
Price: €90,000
The exploits of No Nay Never’s first crop of runners were certain to ensure that his latest crop of foals would be among this week’s prized commodities and the colts on offer by sire included this chesnut who is the first produce of an unraced Galileo mare.
He was purchased by American visitor Kim Valerio who reported that she had come specifically to buy one of the stallion’s foals. Interestingly Valerio purchased the brilliant and much missed Scat Daddy (sire of No Nay Never) as a yearling.
Lot: 488 (c) Awtaad – Kanes Pass
Vendor: Rathasker Stud
Purchaser: Jamie Railton Sales Agency
Price: €88,000
A feature of the foal sales each year are the various stallions being represented by their first crops and Kevin Prendergast’s former Irish 2000 Guineas hero made quite an impact this week.
The Cape Cross horse was represented by a number of very popular sorts and his final figures made for good reading with 21 of his 24 offerings through Part 1 being listed as sold for an impressive average of €61,286. This colt, who was bought by Jamie Railton to reoffer as a yearling, is the second produce of the durable Knockaire Stakes winner Kanes Pass.
Lot: 665 (c) Teofilo – Celeste De La Mer
Vendor: Ringfort Stud
Purchaser: Tally Ho Stud
Price: €180,000
The most expensive purchase of the week by Tally Ho was this son of Teofilo who was providing his connections with a tremendous dividend.
This colt is the first produce of a placed Zoffany mare who was picked up for €19,000 at the 2017 Goffs February Sale and her first produce duly repaid that investment many times over. This colt descends from an excellent Juddmonte dynasty while his immediate relations include Michael Halford’s Royal Hunt Cup winner Portage.
Lot: 678 (f) Nathaniel – Disclose
Vendor: Skara Stud
Purchaser: Michael Roy
Price: €78,000
A very timely and significant update came this filly’s way last Saturday when her three-year-old half-brother Encrypted won the Listed Golden Rose Stakes at Lingfield. That recent boost to the pedigree was certainly a help to this filly who shares her sire with the dual Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Enable.
In addition, this filly is out of the stakes-placed Disclose who was part of the Juddmonte broodmare band until she was snapped up by her current connections for 43,000gns last December.
Lot: 737 (f) Fascinating Rock – Lady Livius
Vendor: Ballylinch Stud
Purchaser: Camas Park Stud
Price: €185,000
The former Champion Stakes and Tattersalls Gold Cup winner enjoyed a good day on Wednesday when two members of his first crop hit six figures and the second of these was this particularly impressive filly who hails from a quality sprinting pedigree.
She is a daughter of the fine broodmare Lady Livius who has produced five winners from six runners and this quintet includes a pair of Group 3-winning juveniles in Burnt Sugar and Brown Sugar.
