Son of Falco leads the way in Lumet

THE second year of Arqana’s association with the Lumet show and sale last Saturday saw an increased level of activity and a greater range of buyers present. The clearance rate rose from 47% to 63%, resulting in a 56% growth in turnover, a 22% improvement in the median figure and a 6% rise in the average.

Last year’s top price of €45,000 was not matched, and this time the high was €39,000 for a two-year-old gelding by Falco, the second produce of a winning half-sister to Grade 2 Haldon Gold Cup winning chaser Pablo Du Charmil. He was sold by David Lumet on behalf of Haras de l’Isle Verte who this week sold the top lot on day one of the Arqana Summer Sale. The buyer was Christian Scandella and the gelding will be trained in France.

JH Bloodstock made six purchases among the 38 lots sold, and the best of these was a two-year-old gelding from the first crop of the Group 2 winning Monsun sire Bathyrhon. His dam is a five-time winner and from the immediate family of Benie Des Dieux. He cost €32,000.
