WILLIE McCreery has been selected by the Irish National Stud Breeding and Racing Club to train its Invincible Spirit two-year-old filly.

McCreery, who enjoyed his finest hour last September when Fiesolana took the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, is a graduate of the Irish National Stud’s thoroughbred breeding course.

INS chief executive John Osborne said: “It’s fantastic that Willie has been selected to train the filly. As a graduate of our course he understands what the Irish National Stud is all about and I’m confident the filly is in good hands.”

The stud’s Breeding and Racing Club was launched before Christmas and has approximately 50 members, each committed to paying €2,000 per year. As well as the two-year-old in training, the club has an interest in two broodmares, both in foal to Big Bad Bob.

Early next month club members will be invited to visit the McCreery yard and the stud before enjoying a raceday at Naas.

The club hopes to run a series of events for members throughout the year. A small number of memberships are still available and further information is available from Ciarán de Barra on (045) 521 251 or by emailing cdebarra@irishnationalstud.ie.
