Michael Ross previews the initial catalogue for the Goffs Champions Sale at Leopardstown

THIS new Goffs sale of horses in training is scheduled to be held in the winner’s enclosure at Leopardstown next Saturday (September 13th) before the first race on Qipco Irish Champion Stakes day. The starting time of the sale is 1.30pm.

The small but select catalogue contains a number of top-class winners, some with classic form such as the recent Irish Derby fourth Ponfeigh and others group-placed, also several very promising winning juveniles.

HORSES IN TRAINING

LELIANI, 3yo ch c by Mr Greeley out of Lidakaya (Kahyasi). From Aga Khan Studs. Won at Dundalk in July over 12 furlongs by six and a half lengths, third and fourth at the Curragh in his other two starts.

MANALAPAN, 4yo b c by Six Sense out of Mia Mambo (Affirmed). From Melitta Lodge Stables. Won at Down Royal last time out in July, also won two races at three years and second Group 3 Diamond Stakes and four other times.

MARAKOUSH, 3yo b c by Danehill Dancer out of Mouramara (Kahyasi). From Currabeg Stables. Won at Ballinrobe on August 26th over 13 furlongs, second three times and third once, from only five starts.

PONFEIGH, 3yo gr c by Teofilo out of Water Fountain (Mark of Esteem). From Currabeg Stables. Won over a mile at Leopardstown and at Navan, third to Parish Hall in Group 3 Meld Stakes, fourth to Australia in Group 1 Irish Derby.

TIMIYAN, 3yo b g by Ghostzapper out of Timarwa (Daylami). From Aga Khan Studs. Won by five lengths at Galway in July and by four lengths at Gowran Park in August, his two latest starts.

MAREMMADIAVOLA, 3yo b g by Kheleyf out of Naked Poser (Night Shift). From Edward Lynam’s yard. Winner of four races, including three in Italy. Latest start was a win at Dundalk in a six-furlong handicap last month off a mark of 89. Entered in the Sovereign Path Handicap at Leopardstown next Saturday.

ACCEPTED, 2yo ch c by Approve out of Birthday Present (Cadeaux Genereux), From Thomastown Castle Stud. Won first two starts, listed Excelebration Tipperary Stakes, fifth Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York, only other start.

CLONARD STREET, 2yo b c by Archipenko out of Moi Aussi (Mt Livermore). From Rockview Stables. Won his first and only start in 2014, over a mile at Galway in August. Dam won two races.

ITORIO, 2yo c by Oratorio out of Image (Close Conflict). From Sheila Lavery’s yard. A Naas maiden winner, and 2½ lengths behind Dick Whittington in a Group 3 at the Curragh. Rated 100. By the sire of Hong Kong champion Military Attack.

KING CHRISTOPHE, 2yo b c by Duke of Marmalade out of Mini Brush (Broad Brush). From Melitta Lodge Stables. Won at Killarney in July, third twice, listed Coolmore Canford Cliffs Stakes, from four starts.

VERT DE GRECE, 2yo gr c by Verglas out of Tiny Petal (Grand Lodge). From Crampscastle Stables. Won at Leopardstown in August over seven furlongs, close second Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh and at Leopardstown, his only starts.
