2012 gelding by Sandmason (Grand Lodge) ex Suny House (Carroll House)
Bred by Paul Rothwell in Bunclody, Co Wexford where he manages the family’s Lacken Stud. Sam Curling trained Summerville Boy to win a Killarney bumper and then sold him for £130,000 last May, having bought him for €4,000 as a three-year-old. The horse also won the Grade 1 32Red Tolworth Hurdle this season. The six-year-old is a son of the resident stallion at Lacken, Sandmason. He is the best runner from his unraced dam and she has a half-sister who bred a Grade 1 winner, Annacotty who won the Feltham Novice Chase.

2012 gelding by Creachadoir (King’s Best) ex Willamina (Sadler’s Wells)
Bred by Louise and Camille Collet, the hugely impressive winner of his fourth Grade 1 is from a family that is better known for producing leading flat runners. Footpad and his siblings have made their mark jumping. Willamina did not possess the talent of her Group 2 winning dam, winning a minor race at four. She had seven foals, five winners and four of them earned blacktype. All of the blacktype they earned was over jumps. Footpad is from the second crop of his sire.

Bred in France by Gilles Trapenard. His dam is a winner over jumps in France and she is one of a pair of winners from her dam Mendy Tennise, who in turn is out of a half-sister to the smart chaser Jimmy Tennis, winner of the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase. Joins Reve De Sivola, My Way de Solzen and Anibale Fly as one of the best runners sired by the classic and multiple Group 1 winner Assessor who was bred in Ireland at Airlie Stud. He was sourced for current connections by Highflyer Bloodstock.
BUVEUR D’AIR (FR)
2011 gelding by Crillon (Saumarez) ex History (Alesso)
Bred by Gérard Ferté. One of a pair of Grade 1 winners produced by his dam. Previously she bred Punchestowns (by Morespeed) who was a Grade 1 winning chaser for Nicky Henderson. Buveur D’Air is also one of two Grade 1 winners for his sire, joining Alex De Larnedya. The 22-year-old Crillon stands for €6,000 at Haras de la Baie. He was a listed winner in France and ran second to Montjeu in the Group 2 Prix Foy. His sire won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Highflyer Bloodstock sourced Buveur D’Air in France for owners Chris Giles and Jared Sullivan’s Potensis Bloodstock. They sold the horse privately to J.P. McManus before his first Champion Hurdle win.

Bred in France by Gerard Doyen. Best runner out of a placed half-sister to the dams of the smart hurdler Cokoriko (also by Robin Des Champs) who won the Listed Prix Gerald de Rochefort Hurdle at Auteuil; Ceasar’s Palace whose many wins included the Grade 3 Prix Gras Savoye Euro/Asie Longchamp Hurdle, Prix Carmarthen Hurdle and Prix de Pepinvast Hurdle; and Corscia, winner of four blacktype races including the Grade 3 Prix Sytaj Mares Chase twice. Benie Des Dieux raced nine times in France, winning twice at Auteuil, before being acquired by Harold Kirk for Rich Ricci.

Bred by Killian Traynor and sold by him, through Burgage Stud, for just €1,700 as a foal to Barrow View Stud at Tattersalls Ireland. He won a Downpatrick bumper for trainer Ian Ferguson shortly before being sold at the 2013 Derby Sale (horses in training section) to Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €100,000. The best winner to date from his unraced dam and she is a daughter of the winning Strong Gale mare Maries Gale. Family of the Grade 1 hurdle winner Aura About You and the Grade 1 placed Ashwell Boy.

Bred by Patrick F Callinan who retained him as a foal for €16,500. Dam has also produced the smart winners Broadway Buffalo who was placed in the Grade 3 Grand National Trial at Haydock, and Christdalo who was placed in a listed hurdle at Cheltenham. Family of the useful Coolmill and Heltornic, the latter a Grade 2 winning chaser. Another Cheltenham Festival winner for his Boardsmill Stud sire who got Willoughby Court last year. Henrietta Knight bought Mister Whitaker privately from the Costellos in Co Clare on behalf of owner Tim Radford, whose company Timico sponsors the Gold Cup.

Bred by Douglas Taylor and ran in his colours when trained by Colin Bowe to win a Monksgrange point-to-point two years ago. Within a week he topped the inaugural Goffs UK Aintree Sale in 2016 when bought by Gigginstown House Stud for £335,000. Samcro is out of an unraced full-sister to Master Of The Hall who gained his biggest victory in the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novice Chase. Frankly Native, the grandam of Samcro, is a half-sister to Sound Man, four of whose 15 victories were in Grade 1 races including the Tingle Creek twice.

Bred by Johnny Weatherby’s Preston Lodge Stud. Sold for €22,000 through Burgage Stud to Lime Farm as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland November Sale. He is another graduate of the Costello academy in Co Clare.
Presenting Percy is the best runner to date from the dual point-to-point winning half-sister to Grade 1 hurdle and chaser runner-up Western Charmer (2nd Irish Grand National). Family of Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition, Cheltenham Festival winner King Harold, Christmas Hurdle winner Emotional Moment, Pencilhimin and Tulsa Jack.
BLEU BERRY (FR)

Bred by Madame Marguerite Chachignon. Unsold as a three-year-old at €10,000. His sire won the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein twice and four Group 3 races. His highest rated runner is Bleu Berry who is the first foal of his unraced dam. She is a daughter of five-time flat winner Dahlia Bonheur who also bred the multiple winner Thiolais.
In five generations of the family Bleu Berry is far and away the best runner and the only horse to earn any blacktype. He ran in three French ‘bumpers’, winning one, before being purchased by current connections.

Bred by Paddy Behan in Co Laois. Sold at the Goffs Land Rover Sale in 2013 for €60,000 from Michael Carty’s Kilmoney Cottage Stud to Highflyer Bloodstock. One of a pair of blacktype winners for his Grade 3 hurdle winning dam who raced for Behan. The other was Princess Leya, a Grade 2 hurdle winner by Old Vic. Family of Moorish who was runner-up in the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle. Altior is unbeaten in 13 starts over hurdles and fences.

Bred by Gerry O’Brien, Tiger Roll sold for 70,000gns as a foal at Tattersalls to John Ferguson, and as a three-year-old at Doncaster to Nigel Hawke for £10,000. After winning a Market Rasen juvenile hurdle he was sold by Thorne Farm Racing to Mags O’Toole (on behalf of Gigginstown) for £80,000 at Brightwells. Half-brother to Group 2 winner Ahzeemah who was runner-up in the Group 1 Irish St Leger. Dam is stakes-placed full-sister to Berenson who finished second to Dubawi in the Group 1 National Stakes. Derby winner Authorized is also sire of Nichols Canyon.

Bred by Patrick Burns. Sold by his breeder from his Newlands House Stud for €85,000 as a yearling to Michael O’Callaghan at the Goffs Orby Sale. He won a 10-furlong Navan handicap for his trainer before being sold for just 16,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale to Aidan O’Ryan and Gordon Elliott. Full-brother to Group 2 winner and classic-placed Devonshire and the listed winner Hurryupharriet. Dam won six races and was one of eight winners from her dam Nordic Living.

Bred by Bobby McCarthy at The Beeches Stud where he stands Flemensfirth. Relegate is out of the bumper and hurdles winner Last Of The Bunch who is now the fourth successive dam in the family to produce a blacktype winner. Relegate was sold at Goffs for €10,000 as a foal to Richard Cotter, and then traded twice at Fairyhouse, selling for €14,000 as a yearling to Brown Island Stables and €35,000 to Colm Murphy as a three-year-old at the Derby Sale.

SHATTERED LOVE (IRE)
2011 mare by Yeats (Sadler’s Wells) ex Tracker (Bustino)
Bred by Limetree Stud. Shattered Love is the third blacktype winner for her dam and she sold for €50,000 as the 2014 Derby Sale to Philip Fenton. Pat Doyle trained her to win a Lemonfield point before she moved to the Elliott yard. Her dam Tracker did not race but a trio of her offspring stand out. The Hernando gelding Make A Track won the Grade 2 Tim Duggan Memorial Chase at Limerick; his Aussie Rules half-brother Irish Cavalier won the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase, and now Shattered Love is a dual Grade 1 winner over fences.

Bred by Charles and Jean-Francois Magnien and raced by them in France, trained by Emmanuel Clayeux, and a winner on his second start. In the first four now on all of his 10 starts. By the leading sire Network, a German Group 2 winner and sire of stalwarts such as Sprinter Sacre, Rubi Light, Rubi Ball and Saint Are, the latter also being out of a Video Rock mare. Best winner to date for his dam who is a placed half-sister to six winners.

Bred by Clovis and Florence Bardin, Balko Des Flos was offered for sale at Arqana as a two-year-old, failing to trade when the bidding reached €29,000. At the time his half-brother Salut Flo was a Cheltenham Festival winner of the Grade 3 Byrne Group Plate. Balko Des Flos was trained by Willie Mullins to win two bumpers and a hurdle race before being transferred to Henry de Bromhead. The Galway Plate winner is the sixth offspring of Royale Marie, a winner over jumps at Marseille. She is a daughter of Marie Des Epeires, winner of the Listed Prix Gerald de Rochefort at Auteuil.

Bred by Newsells Park Stud and Equity Bloodstock. Sold to James Bethell for 24,000gns in Tattersalls Book 2, he won two races for Bethell and Clarendon Racing before being sold in 2014 at Tattersalls for 240,000gns to Stephen Hillen Bloodstock on behalf of Brighton FC chairman Tony Bloom. Luca Cumani then trained Penhill to win twice more before Bloom moved the horse on to Willie Mullins. One of three winners out of an unraced half-sister to Grade 2 winner Herboriste, the listed winner and Grade 1 Hollywood Derby runner-up Fast And Furious, and to the stakes-placed dam of Group 1 Derby runner-up At First Sight.

Bred by Rowena Cotton and Stephen Lanigan-O’Keeffe. Sold as a three-year-old at the Goffs Land Rover Sale for €67,000 from White Horse Stud as agent to Kevin Ross Bloodstock. Own-brother to three-time winner Boherna Lady and one of three winners out of Bally Bolshoi. That mare won over hurdles at Exeter and Chepstow. Shantou is one of the oldest active thoroughbred stallions in Ireland, busy again for the 2018 season at the age of 25.

She raced twice for Guy Macaire before being bought privately by current connections. From the first crop of the Juddmonte-bred Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Spanish Moon. Laurina is the best of seven winners for her dam which also includes the dual listed hurdle winner Lamigo. Family of good German hurdler Landrino.

Bought by Highflyer Bloodstock and trainer Warren Greatrex for £27,000 after he had won his only start in a Dawstown point-to-point for the father-and-son team of Joe and Josh Ryan. Joins Golan Way and Missunited as one of the best runners over jumps for his sire. Son of the smart hurdler Polly’s Dream who was runner-up in a Grade 2 race. The grandam of Polly’s Dream is a full-sister to Leopardstown Chase and Kim Muir winner The Ellier.

The best runner from the first crop of Jukebox Jury who has moved for the 2018 season to stand at Burgage Stud. Winner on the flat in France before his transfer to Ireland, Farclas’ dam was a stakes-placed winner of seven races in Germany and Switzerland. Family of Derby winner Teenoso.

Dam is a winning two-year-old and a daughter of Walayaf (Danzig), a Group 3 winning own-sister to Haatef, winner of the Group 2 Diadem Stakes and sire. Family also of the champion Irish two-year-old filly Shimah, 2nd Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Sold by Muriel O’Keeffe at the Goffs UK Spring Sale last May to Colin Tizzard for £22,000. Best winner to date for his dam who is a bumper winning daughter of the hurdle and point-to-point winner Kilbricken Star. She in turn is a full-sister to the Mandalus gelding St Mellion Fairway, a Grade 2 novice hurdle winner in England and successful seven times.

Bred by Fred Mackey. Sold as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland for €6,000 to John Dineen. He made his sole appearance in a point-to-point on this day (March 17th) 2014 when, trained by Denis Aherne, he looked booked for third spot when he unseated his rider at the final fence. He was bought privately by agent Tom Malone that summer.
Native River is the second Grade 1 winner for his dam, the unraced Native Mo. Previously she bred the Beneficial gelding Orpheus Valley and in 2014 he won the Guinness Chase at the Punchestown Festival. She is also dam of a third winner in Mahler Ten and of the placed One Night In Milan (an €80,000 purchase by Tom Malone for Paul Nicholls in 2016)

Bred by Hubert Honore and Pierrick Rouxel. Sold as a yearling at Arqana October Sale for €16,000 from Haras d’Ommeel to Antoine Lamotte D’Argy. One of nine foals from his dam, eight of which have run and won. He is the only blacktype winner, though his Poliglote half-sister Agata was third in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary. Ambri Piotta was a listed winner of 11 races. Muhtathir stands at Haras du Mezeray for €5,000 and is sire of Doctor Dino and more.

Bred by Eleanor Hadden. Blow By Blow was sold as a foal at Tattersalls Ireland to Kevin Ross Bloodstock for €11,500 and he was reoffered again at the Goffs Land Rover Sale in 2014 where Limekiln Stud sold him to Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €130,000. He won the Grade 1 Punchestown Champion Bumper for Mullins before being transferred to the Elliott yard. Best of three winners for his dam who is a half-sister to the Grade 1 RSA Chase winner Cooldine. That gelding’s full-brother Fists Of Fury was runner-up in Grade 2 races over hurdles and fences.

Bred by Jean-Raymond Breton and Thomas Trapenard. First foal and the best of two winners for his dam, the other being his full-brother Mont Des Avaloirs. Sold for £290,000 at Goffs UK in May 2016 to Frank Berry by the Million In Mind Partnership. Dam was placed over hurdles in France and is out of Galissima, a three-time winning daughter of Sicyos, two of those wins coming over jumps. Galissima is a half-sister to Group 2 Prix Kergorlay runner-up Ethan Frome.
