GOFFS has published the catalogues for Parts 1 and 2 of the Arkle Sale, the three-day auction of store horses previously known as the Land Rover.

There are 469 lots in Part 1 and 238 in Part 2, which is very similar to last year when the average price paid at Part 1 was €51,000 and the Part 2 average was €18,000.

Taking place from June 13th to 15th, the Arkle Sale will feature siblings to Grade 1 winners Appreciate It, Ahoy Senor, Champ Kiely, Fury Road, Lalor, My Drogo, Put The Kettle On, Special Tiara, Tornado Flyer and Three Stripe Life.

Goffs CEO Henry Beeby said: “Buyers can expect something very special at Goffs Arkle Sale next month. Our expansion of Part 1 to two days in 2021 took this sale to a whole new level as we can now accommodate the increasing demand from the leading NH vendors choosing to send their best to Goffs. To quote the great David Minton, ‘the standard of horses has improved beyond belief’.”

All horses offered in Parts 1 and 2 are eligible for the €100,000 Goffs Defender Bumper at the 2024 Punchestown Festival where the winning vendor will become the outright owner of a Defender Hard Top.

Doncaster

Before then, Goffs UK will stage its Doncaster Spring Store Sale on May 22nd-23rd, followed by the Spring HIT/PTP Sale on May 24th-25th. The latter catalogue will be released online early next week and features well over 400 horses-in-training and point-to-pointers.

Along with a host of recent point-to-point winners from top handlers, the catalogue will include graded race winner Gin On Lime, plus sizable drafts from Dan Skelton (14 entries), Gordon Elliott (24), Nicky Henderson (nine) and Paul Nicholls (10).

The second day will also include the annual Million In Mind Dispersal, a 25-horse partial dispersal from leading owner Dai Walters, plus a partial dispersal from owner Mike Grech.
