Always amazed at the miles jockeys and trainers etc cover to get to the races. eg @dickyjohnson77 rode at Exeter [4.05] yesterday, today he is at Ayr [12.30]. That’s just insane, was he home at all? Did he get any sleep? Just amazing.

My life is dedicated to praising Rachael Blackmore.

Delighted to play a very small part in the story of Apples Jade. What a mare, winning her 11th Grade 1 today. Very lucky to lead her up at the races, but a massive team effort behind it all. G’wan the Apples #WonderMare #Superstar

Praise for Fallon Sherrock in the last couple of weeks is more than worthy but what about a word for jockey Rachael Blackmore.

Her two rides to win a pair of Grade 1s against more-fancied rivals In Ireland this week was terrific in a far more attritional environment.

Thanks to everyone who followed me these last few days. I only got a chance to show you a small segment of what & who it takes to put on a day’s racing. This is a great sport which is loved by so many but needs to further open its doors. – Peter Roe puts in an insightful slot on the Twitter account from behind the scenes in Fairyhouse

Dublin Racing Festival ended up a disaster last year, yesterday’s Gr1 novice chase [Neville Hotels] should have been race of the week but ended up a complete farce. I hope they provide suitable ground at Dublin Racing Festival 2020.

It’s a bizarre discussion whether a horse likes the whip, which is effectively a cushioned feather duster these days. Sure they dislike having 10 stone of human on them for miles much more.
