Lukeswell sold

SAM Watson’s European Championships mount Horseware Lukeswell has been sold to US event rider Katherine Coleman.

Watson rode the 11-year-old gelding to 12th place at the Europeans in 2012 and the combination were on the long-list for the Rio Olympic Games.

WEG to be rescheduled

THE 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games will no longer take place in Bromont, Canada, after the Canadian Federal Government confirmed there would be no forthcoming funding to facilities the event.

The FEI yesterday announced that they are working on alternatives for the Games following mutual agreement between the Federation and the Canadian Comité organisateur des Jeux Équestres Mondiaux 2018 (COJEM).

AIRC hunter trials rescheduled

THE Association of Irish Riding Clubs has announced that the Connolly’s Red Mills-sponsored National Hunter Trials Championships will take place at Annaharvey Farm, Co Offaly on Sunday, September 18th.

The event was due to take place in April at Flowerhill but was cancelled due to waterlogging on the course over the winter.

The championships will include warm-up pairs competitions along with the individual championship classes for advanced primary to advanced open riders.

RDS diesel dipping

CUSTOMS officers were dipping for diesel on the opening day of the Dublin Horse Show. The procedure was taking place in the Belvedere Rugby Club, which is used as a car and lorry park during the show.

Allen wins foal

BERTRAM Allen won a beautiful foal by Cornet Obolensky after finishing second in the Youngster Tour Final with GK Casper, crowned Best Young Horse, at Aachen CHIO, Germany.
