McCusker holds the license to run Cashjumping in Ireland and hosted the first event at his venue two weeks ago. McCusker has sent two solicitor’s letters to Showjumping Ireland and its chairman, Tony Hurley, over comments made in the Irish Examiner last week.

In the letters, Mr McCusker said it was “highly unsatisfactory” that he had learned of SJI concerns about Cashjumping through the press.

He claimed that SJO should have no concerns about Cashjumping competitions being run alongside SJI events as Cashjumping was “simply unaffiliated showjumping”, adding that SJI was aware “not only that affiliated and unaffiliated competitions have been held at The Meadows for years but that many other venues operate similarly.”

When asked to comment, a spokesperson for SJI said only: “A meeting of the ShowjumpingIreland Executive is due to take place this Tuesday, March 14th, and these matters will be discussed during that meeting.
