Chairperson James Kernan was replaced by Ronan Corrigan and PRO Dave Darragh was replaced by John Sheridan.

Speaking to The Irish Field, James Kernan said: “I enjoyed my time as chairperson of the club, but I felt that it was time to give the post to someone new. The two new appointees have plenty of experience, having both worked in Showjumping Ireland. Their fresh ideas will no doubt help the organisation. The Showjumpers Club is the rider’s voice and I am hoping that in time, more riders will become involved in the organisation.”

Dave Darragh said: “I have served on the committee for a total of seven years and I was instrumental along with my partner Helena in setting up the original Spring Tour. That same year, myself and Jack Doyle helped set up the International rider’s forum, which provided the blueprint for how teams are selected today.

“This year I really felt that that my opinions as a sponsor were stifled. I feel that The Showjumpers Club needs more independence and that there is a real issue in regards scheduling of events between our national bodies,” said Darragh. “I also feel that there should be more transparency in regards where any funding has gone and where any future government funding will go. Saying that, I hope things will change and I wish John Sheridan and Ronan Corrigan the best of luck in their new endeavours.”
