STALLION Services, an Equine Innovation Company based in Co Antrim, scooped a prize at the recent Invent 2020 Awards run by Tech Organisation Catalyst NI.

Stallion Services pitched their business through multiple rounds, submitted Innovation Slide Decks and business plans and delivered a live presentation on the night in a 60 second elevator pitch event to be crowned Agri Science winner for 2020.

Founded by Karl Rainey, the company has been operating as a semen supply service in Ireland since 2018, representing some of Europe’s top stallion stations and riders including Ballywalter Farms, Tal Milstein Stallions, Het Netehof, Eden Farms and more.

Stallion Services supply semen with a difference. Karl Rainey said: “We evaluate all semen we accept into our distribution centre for quality.

“It’s so important with the rising costs of veterinary fees and foal production that we ensure the semen we supply to our customer is of the best there is and we get positive results first time.”

Management

“Stallion Services uses a self-developed web application ‘StudPro’, to allow breeders, vets and stallion owners to view, add and manage their animals and tasks relating to the equine breeding season.

“The easy to use software allows all parties to maintain full records on what has been carried out and in the future we will be including the use of clever artificial intelligence to predict and monitor points in a mare’s cycle and much more.”

Rainey added: “The future for Stallion Services is exciting, we are just about the launch a range of game changing sensors, one of which will notify breeders when their mare is foaling, coupled with an overall health sensor monitoring the general health of the horse.

“This has the ability to notify horse owners when a problem with their animal is developing.

“We are working with some of the best research and engineering teams who have developed health sensors for global organisations and we will be using the latest innovative communication methods which gift our devices with battery life of over five years between charges.

“Being crowned Agri Science Winner for Invent 2020 is fantastic recognition for our business and we have had a huge amount of interest in our products,” the founder added.
