O’Shea followed up his win in last weekend’s Grand Prix of Devon with Primo de Revel by taking the feature event, the $75,000 Jumper Classic at Upperville with Skara Glen’s Sienna. He also took the runner-up slot with River Dance Semilly with America’s Candice King and Pjotter van de Zonnehoeve in third from an initial starting field of 28 to face Marina Azevedo’s track.

Only two days beforehand, O’Shea and River Dance Semilly won the Welcome Stakes and the duo were quick to set a fast pace to lead the first round in the Grand Prix. However the pair had a pole on the floor in the jump-off as did King, allowing O’Shea, ahead of her by less than a second, take his time warming Sienna up to clinch the win.

The Dutch warmblood didn’t disappoint, posting a steady clear. O’Shea said: “I’m just delighted. The last couple of weeks have been great. This mare is only eight and this is only her third Grand Prix. I’ve been riding her since she was five and she is a really, really special horse with all the qualities that you would need in a modern show jumper.”

King, who is back show jumping this season, after breaking her neck and back in a fall, has been posting consistent results and took home the Leading Lady Open Jumper Rider Award for her efforts.
