THE Veterinary Council of Ireland announced the appointment of incoming registrar/CEO, Niamh Muldoon who will take up her new role in April.
A qualified solicitor, Niamh Muldoon is currently Head of Corporate Governance and Secretary to the Medical Council of Ireland. Her career began in the Houses of the Oireachtas as Parliamentary Assistant; she later worked in private practice as a solicitor before joining the Medical Council in 2013.
President of the Veterinary Council of Ireland, Peadar O’Scanaill, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Niamh on board as registrar of the Veterinary Council of Ireland. Niamh has a wealth of experience in government, private practice and most recently in regulation of the medical profession. I am confident that Niamh will bring superb leadership and a developed perspective and insight to the role.”
Niamh Muldoon commented: “I believe this is an exciting time for the Veterinary Council, and view the next chapter as an opportunity to support the Council in delivering a robust regulatory framework for the professions, in the public interest. I look forward engaging with all stakeholders in the development of the strategy for the Council and building on the success of the VCI to date.”
An independent statutory body, the role of The Veterinary Council of Ireland is to regulate and manage the practice of veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing here in the public interest.
