TEAGASC has organised two upcoming equine breeding demonstration events that are both certain to have wide appeal among breeders, owners, riders and producers alike.

The first event will take place on Thursday, October 26th at Ard Chuain Equestrian Centre, Corbally, Co Sligo and is entitled Optimising Traditional Bloodlines.

Speakers will include Chris Ryan, Scarteen, Andrew Gardiner, Doonaveeragh and Liam Lynskey of Derryronane Stud.

The second event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31st next and is entitled Breeding the High Performance Horse. It will be held at Kildalton Agricultural College, Piltown, Co Kilkenny. Speakers include Tom Brennan of Mill House Stud, Andrew Hughes ESI, Marion Hughes of Hughes House Stud and Richard Sheane of Cooley Sport Horses.

It is expected that there will be strong interest in the event which is also the first time highly respected breeder Tom Brennan (pictured) will be on an official panel.

Both events will start at 7.30pm and pre-booking is essential. The registration fee is €20.

Teagasc Equine Specialist Wendy Conlon advised: “It is also a Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) approved Knowledge Transfer Equine Event and DAFM will be present at both venues from 7.15pm to 8.45pm for registration for those involved in the KT Equine Groups.”
