THE RDAI has paid tribute to its late esteemed president Elizabeth Gordon who passed away on February 16th last.
On behalf of the organisation, RDAI national secretary, Dilys Lindsay said: “Elizabeth’s energy, commitment and deep loyalty to our organisation will always be an inspiration to all of us.
“Elizabeth had been involved in RDAI from almost the beginning, always believing that disabled riders and carriage drivers should have the same rights, opportunities and potential as the able-bodied.”
Elizabeth Gordon became president of RDAI in 2009, having worked tirelessly in numerous roles, including PRO, for more than 20 years.
She believed in volunteering and was passionate that RDAI should remain as a voluntary body, with no staff or expensive administrative office.
“Her knowledge and energy were invaluable to our organisation and it is thanks to her and others like her, that RDAI celebrates 50 years of volunteering in Ireland this year.
“Although with failing health, she continued to attend all our events and meetings.
“She was an example to us all. We will miss her. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family and friends,” said Dilys Lindsay.
