THE show jumping is the only part of Galway County Show that will be held this weekend with a prize fund of over €30,000 offered at Duffy’s Equestrian Centre.

As a result of ground conditions at Ballybrit, the showing section was unfortunately cancelled on safety and welfare grounds for animals.

“The only section of the Galway County Show that will now take place is the show jumping, which will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday by kind permission of Mark Duffy. Unfortunately, all other classes and activities are cancelled for 2017,” said a show spokesperson.

The course builders are Paul Duffy, Tommy Gibbons, Pat Drennan, Noel Burke and Alan Lynch, with each day’s action commencing at 9am.

Saturday’s action features the Devenish Nutrition Young Horse Showjumping Championship five-year-old qualifier 1.15m and the Devenish Nutrition Young Horse Showjumping Championship six-year-old qualifier 1:25m.

The Top 25 or all Double Clears in both of these classes will qualify for Sunday’s final. Saturday’s highlight class is the SJI National grand Prix 1.40m, sponsored by Walsh Heating & Plumbing, & Martin Flesk Plumbing, commencing at 3pm.

Sunday’s action includes the finals and also features the €10,000 TRM/Horseware New Heights Championship Series, followed by the Amateur Grand Prix. For more information, see www.galwaycountyshow.com or Facebook.
