THE National Hound Show 2019 will take place at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois on Sunday, July 7th. Starting at 10am, the show will include rings for Stud Book Foxhounds, Harriers, and Beagles plus trade stands and equestrian events.

The Studbook Foxhound Show is Ireland’s premier foxhound competition and is held under the auspices of the Irish Masters of Foxhounds’ Association. This annual event attracts over half the foxhound packs in Ireland.

This year’s foxhound judges are:

  • Doghounds: Mrs Charmain Green (former master of the Warwickshire Hunt and the Fox River Valley Foxhounds, Illinois, USA)) and Harry Gosling MH, currently master and huntsman of the Modbury Harriers who becomes joint master and huntsman the Dartmoor Foxhounds on May 1st next.
  • Bitches: Tim Easby (director, the Masters of Foxhounds’ Association in Britain and former joint master and huntsman the South Shropshire, the West of Yore and the Middleton Hunts) and Mrs Tessa Jackson (former joint master the Cattistock Foxhounds).
  • The 2019 foxhound classes remain as previously, including The Irish Field Trophy for young bitches and the Horse & Hound Cup for the best two young bitches. This year will also include a special prize to be awarded for the best Old English type shown in the two main championships.
