Foal auction for Kevin Babington Foundation

GREG Broderick’s Ballypatrick Stables is donating the proceeds of a home-bred foal being auctioned at next Tuesday’s Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale to the Kevin Babington Foundation. It was announced on Thursday that the foal would be an additional entry at the sale, and the only foal on offer.

Lot 35A, the Emerald-sired chesnut colt foal comes from a line of exciting jumpers. Out of the 1.50m mare Ballypatrick Flight, who Broderick jumped at international level, the foal’s second dam is Gowran Lady, mother of Olympic show jumper MHS Going Global.

Greg Broderick said: “Kevin Babington has been a great friend and big help to me over the years. Most of the show jumping world know the injuries Kevin sustained and it’s great to see so many people getting behind him. This is a small token from Ballypatrick to help Kevin on his road to recovery.”

Goresbridge’s Martin Donohoe said: “This is very generous of Greg and Ballypatrick to offer this fine colt. We will be doing our utmost at Tuesday’s auction to achieve the very highest price possible for this foal in aid of the Kevin Babington Fund.”

The foal can be viewed at Goresbridge (B11) on Tuesday. The auction takes place at the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey on Tuesday evening. There will be full coverage of the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale by Margie McLoone in next week’s issue.

New Plusvital products at Cavan

IRISH equine science company Plusvital will sponsor five competitive qualifier classes at this weekend’s Cavan International Show - the 1m, 1.10m, 1.20m, 1.30m and five-year-old qualifier.

This sponsorship coincides with Plusvital’s launch of some new additions to its nutritional range. Some of these products include Plusvital Effivet, a topical, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral skin solution for wound repair and Plusvital Chillax, a calming paste supplement designed to restore chemical balance to the central nervous system.

Plusvital’s supplements are used by riders and trainers in over 30 countries, including Irish international riders Paddy O’Donnell and Cathal Daniels, both of whom are competing at Cavan International. Also this week, Australian-based customer Danny O’Brien trained the winner of the Melbourne Cup on world’s first nutrigenomic supplement for horses.

Plusvital’s general manager Ciara Watt said: “We are delighted to add more exciting new products to the Plusvital range. Our customers tell us what issues they have with their horses and we ensure we research and formulate products based on science to support their horse’s requirements.”

The Plusvital supplement range can now be purchased at Cavan Equestrian Centre’s Cladem Equi Store and will have a fantastic 20% off all Plusvital supplements for the duration of the show.
