New Directory section for professional riders

WE are currently compiling our Irish Field Directory for 2019 and this year we are including a new section for Professional Riders (eventing/showjumping/dressage/endurance etc).Information provided by professional equestrian riders will be included in The Irish Field Directory 2019.

Star of the Month

MANY congratulations to young Tipperary show jumping rider Max Wachman who was voted the Gain Equine Nutrition/The Irish Field Star of the Month for August. Max is coached by Cian O’Connor. Well done Max!

O’Brien wins at Tryon International

GALWAY’s David O’Brien filled the top two places in Wednesday’s $35,000 1.45m Power & Speed Stake, on the opening day of the five-star fixture at Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina, USA.

O’Brien partnered the eight-year-old gelding KIR Royal SCF (Amaretto D’Arco x Nabab de Reve), owned by Spy Coast Farm LLC, to the winning time of 32.12 seconds. He also filled runner-up spot with Kirschwasser SCF (Amaretto D’Arco x Nabab de Reve) when crossing the line in 33.54.

Hello Sanctos back

BACK competing on the circuit after an 18-month break is Hello Sanctos, London Olympic gold-medal winning mount of Britain’s Scott Brash.

The 16-year-old gelding jumped at the Autumn Mediterranean Equestrian Tour (October 2nd-7th).

Death of a legend

BRITISH show jumping legend Peter Robeson, who won two Olympic medals and represented his country over 80 times, died recently aged 88. He rode at his first Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1956 where he won Team Bronze aboard Pat Smythe’s Scorchin. His achievements include Olympic Bronze at the 1964 Games with Firecrest and he also represented the UK at the 1976 Olympics with Law Court. His best known horses were Grebe and Craven A. Di Lampard described him as a “classical horseman of our time”.

Sales correction

THERE was an error in the results of the Cavan Youngstock Sale on October 2nd, concerning the purchaser of Lot 44. This lot was bought by J. Carroll from Co Offaly and not John Cusack from Offaly as stated. Many apologies to all parties concerned for this error.
