Parties silent

THERE was no comment from the SJI this week after it was served papers by Millstreet’s legal team in connection with a pending court case.

“As legal proceedings have been issued in this case, Showjumping Ireland are unable to make any comment,” said SJI chairman Ray Buchanan.

When contacted, Millstreet’s Thomas Duggan had no comment other than to confirm legal papers had been served on the SJI by Milstreet at the end of January 2018.

Teagasc seminar

International show jumper William Funnell, alongside Barry O’Connor and top breeders Tiernan Gill and Andrew Hughes, will sit on an expert panel for a breeding, trade and assessing horses section. Panellists from the thoroughbred industry include Cathal Beale, CEO of the National Stud and Clodagh Kavanagh of Darley Flying Start. Annie and Kate Madden of the hugely successful Fenu Health brand will headline the sport horse panel. Barbara Murphy of Equilume, Judith Faherty of The Irish Field, Horse Sport Ireland’s Catherine Flanagan and event rider Michelle Kenny.

Squad named

TEAM Ireland’s senior show jumping chef d’equipe Rodrigo Pessoa has named his first Irish squad of 2018, to take part in the first points-scoring Nations Cup in the new Slovakian venue of Samorin on Sunday, April 29th. The squad is Mark McAuley (Utchan De Belheme), Shane Breen (Ipswich van de Wolfsakker), Michael Duffy (EFS Top Contender), Paul O’Shea (Skara Glen’s Machu Picchu) and Shane Sweetnam (Indra Van De Oude Heihoef).

THE 25th All Ireland Interschools Show Jumping Championships will now be held at Millstreet on Sunday, August 19th next and not the May bank holiday weekend. More details next week.
