IDHBA stallion parade

THE IDHBA will host a stallion parade in Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Sunday, February 23rd 2020. Over 30 stallions have been entered – this Includes high performance show jumping and eventing stallions and RDS show class winners.

The parade is open to Irish Draught, Traditional Irish Horse, thoroughbreds and Connemara stallions. There will be a reception on the day with wine, tea and coffee and a free prize draw for a tonne of feed from the Homeland Store in Ballaghaderreen.

All are welcome to what should be a top class showcase of the Irish Horse, the parade kicks off at 12 noon and admission is free. All enquiries to idhba@eircom.net.

IPS Punchestown event

THE Irish Pony Society has unveiled their speakers for their information evening at Punchestown racecourse on Wednesday, February 26th, starting at 7.30pm. Jane Bradbury will speak on all aspects of ridden hunter/show hunter showing, while working hunter production will be addressed by Jane Hancock. Co Mayo’s Philip Scott will speak on the subject of showing Connemaras, while Mairead Ryan will give the judge’s perspective on showing.

The evening will be rounded off by Dorothy Guilford who will explain the benefits and workings of the three-phase Sports Pony Challenge.

The cost will be €10 for adults and €5 for children.

Young Breeders’ training

TEAGASC and Horse Sport Ireland Young Breeder Training recommences on Sunday February 23rd at the Showjumpers Club Spring Tour in Cavan Equestrian Centre.

This will provide opportunity for young people from across the country to enjoy the sport of show jumping and discuss horses athleticism traits; potential and more.

Eventing fee changes

EVENTING Ireland has announced that all international application fees will now be charged at €15. Late applications fees will be doubled after the close of applications and the athlete charged €30. The EI80 class will now be classified as a training class to encourage participation at its national events. The EI80(T) class entry fees have been reduced from €70 to €50 and £55 to £45.

To take part in an EI80 (T) class, you do not need to be a member of Eventing Ireland but you and your horse/pony must be a web member/web registration which is free. No day tickets apply.

Eventing Ireland looks forward to seeing more people taking up the reins and joining Eventing Ireland at all levels when the new season starts in March.

Industry awards

THE fourth annual Irish Sport Horse Industry Awards will take place on Saturday, April 18th at the Killashee Hotel, Naas, Co Kildare.
