Goresbridge Sale postponed

IN order to comply with government directives regarding the Covid-19 virus, and the restrictions on public gatherings, the organisers at Goresbridge have made the decision to postpone next week’s sport horse sale to Wednesday, April 8th.

Industry awards postponed

LIAM Geddes, organiser of the popular annual Irish Sport Horse Industry Awards, confirmed this week that the event has been postponed due to Covid-19 and will be held at a later date. “Given the uncertainty and the concerns about the spread of Covid-19, we feel that the responsible decision is to postpone the event which was scheduled for April 18th at the Killashee House Hotel. We look forward to announcing a new date at the earliest opportunity,” said Geddes.

Newmarket Venture Clover retired

THE 16-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Newmarket Venture Clover has been retired. Bred by Billy Daly in Co Cork out of the Cavalier Royale-sired Newmarket Rare Cavalier and by Daly’s Newmarket Venture, he was ridden was Dermott Lennon, among others, as a young horse before being sold to Thailand’s Janakabhorn Karunayadhaj in 2014. Together, they qualified for the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon.

THE ITBA nomination for Seanad Eireann, Dermot Cantillon is contesting a seat on the Agricultural Panel. Being an Independent Senator, Dermot, can offer a very effective and strong voice for rural Ireland and the equine sector.
