Entries closing for Goresbridge Sale

ENTRY applications close on Monday (August 9th) for Goresbridge’s new Select Sale of Three-Year-Old Show jumpers and Eventers which will be held on October 4th next.

Selection and video dates for this new sale are August 23rd, 24th and 25th at the Co Kilkenny auction house complex.

Goresbridge auctioneer Martin Donohoe said: “This is a one-day new sale on October 4th next of Select Three-Year-Olds who could go on to be either eventers or show jumpers. We want to give vendors as many options as we can with their three-year-olds. The performance element of the sale is will take place in the morning and the sale will be held in the afternoon.

“We have three days of selection and video dates coming up (August 23rd-25th) where the videos and photographs will all be done together. All lots for the sale will be sold with X-rays and vet certificates and entries close next Monday,” said Donohoe.

As with other recent Goresbridge sales, online bidding will be offered and will bring the sale to a large overseas pool of potential customers.

RDS preview issue

NEXT week (August 14th), Irish Horse World will also be bringing readers previews of the upcoming RDS Equestrian National Championships which take place from August 20th to 22nd at Ballsbridge.

Loss of Cloneyhea Paddy

THE loss was announced this week by Cloneyhea Stud of Russell and Judith Cowley’s well known Irish Draught stallion Cloneyhea Paddy (Arthur’s Gold).

The popular, good-looking chesnut was a special favourite with all due to his exceptionally kind temperament and good stock.

X-rays at Fethard Equine Hospital discovered end of life arthritis in his neck from a previous injury which sadly left no recovery option. The Cowleys also thanked their veterinary surgeon Martin O’Gorman for all his care for the stallion in recent months.
