Dummy accident claims stallion Plot Blue
THE show jumping stallion Plot Blue died after an accident on the covering dummy at a stud in France.
Partnered by Marcus Ehning, Plot Blue won the 2010 World Cup Final in Geneva and helped Germany to team gold at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky the same year.
The combination were also on the bronze medal-winning German team at the 2009 European Championships, and finished 12th at the 2012 London Olympic Games. The stallion was retired at Geneva in 2015 at the age of 19, after a glittering career in which amassed over €1.2 million.

Correct clearance rate
THE clearance rate of last Thursday’s Select Event Horse Sale hosted at Tattersalls House by Goresbridge and Tattersalls Ireland was 43% and not 38% as reported last week. The lower figure did not take into account the two withdrawn lots on the night of the sale, leading to the revised increased rate.
Ohlala retired
LAUREN Hough’s has retired her top horse, the 15-year-old brilliant mare Ohlala (Orlando x Cardento). Announcing the news on social media, Hough said she didn’t think the mare would make it back to the very top of the sport after sustaining an injury last year. The combination were regular members of the USA team and part of the winning all-female Nations Cup team at Dublin in 2017.
They were individual and team bronze medallists at the 2015 Pam American Games. Hough plans to breed from Ohlala in the future.
