BHS insurance

A REPRESENTATIVE of The British Horse Society has been in touch with us over last week’s article on BHS insurance post-Brexit to ROI members.

A BHS spokesperson explained that: “Any policy remains valid for its current duration, and policies taken out or renewed up until and including 31st December 2020 will run their 12-month course, as usual.”

We are happy to clarify this.

Cruelty appeal case

ROSCOMMON man Patrick Connolly, Cooltacker, Kilroosky, lodged an appeal at Roscommon Circuit Court on November 30th last against a sentence imposed for animal cruelty in December 2019. At the time, he was sentenced to three months, suspended for one year, and disqualified from keeping dogs for five years.

Judge Francis Comerford upheld the five-year disqualification, fined him €1,000 and ordered that he pay €1,050 veterinary costs.

The case arose from a number of visits made to Connolly’s property by ISPCA inspectors and Gardaí in 2017.
