HORSE Sport Ireland (HSI) is to sponsor all competitions coming up under the umbrella of the Young Eventhorse Series (YES!).

The four-leg series will feature separate HSI-sponsored classes for four- and five-year-old Irish-bred eventhorses where the Irish Horse Welfare Trust will present an additional €150 to the highest-placed thoroughbred horse should one finish in the top three in both classes.

At each venue, HSI will be providing a prize-fund of €720 which will be divided between the top four four- and five-year-olds and will also be sponsoring the 2020 YES league for which €6,620 will be on offer. The owner, breeder and rider of the top three horses in both leagues will be rewarded.

HSI is also sponsoring the Junior/Young Rider event horse class for five- to seven-year-old horses standing 148cms or over and the competitions for Irish Draught horses (four- and five-year-olds and six-year-old and upwards) and registered Connemara ponies (five- to seven-year-old and eight- to 15-year-olds) at each of the four venues.

There will be prize-money for these competitions on the day but none for their leagues, although Berney Bros Ireland will present a €50 voucher to the overall junior/young rider winner. As with the young eventhorse classes, the best placings from any three of the four qualifiers will count towards league points.

This year, the YES! organisers are using the Equipe management system for entries, results and contract tracing while there are also new formats in operation and new tests for the ridden displays. The series gets under way next Friday, July 31st at Tullylish and will continue on Wednesday, August 5th at Forth Mountain, on Thursday, August 13th at Rincoola and on Tuesday, August 25th at Scarteen.
