AT the recent AGM of Aghabullogue Hunt Club, Tom Healy, master and huntsman, stood down from the position of huntsman. Following the sudden death of huntsman Gerry O’Shea in the late 1970s, Tom, at the age of 17, with the support of his late father Cal Healy took on hunting the Aghabullogue Harriers. For the past 40 years, the hounds have been hunted and kennelled by him at Clonmoyle. Over the years with a careful and knowledgeable breeding plan, he has produced a beautiful pack of Old English Foxhounds, which Tom and members of the Aghabullogue Hunt Club are very proud of.
After giving a lifetime of exceptional dedication and service to hunting in mid Cork and beyond, Tom now hands over 25 couple of hounds and new entries for the coming season to his nephew Tim Dennehy, who will carry the horn for the 2017/18 season. His tireless work for the Aghabullogue Hunt Club, his contribution to the sport of hunting and his local community is gratefully recognised, acknowledged and hugely appreciated.
