PRAYERS for Olympic event rider Jonty Evans continue to stream in as the 46-year-old remains in a stable condition in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Beaumont Hospital following a fall on cross-country at Tattersalls International Horse Trials last Sunday, June 3rd.

The lastest update, released on Friday from a representative of Jonty’s family via Horse Sport Ireland, said: “Jonty continues to be in a stable condition and is receiving the best possible care and treatment in the specialist neurological department in Beaumont Hospital. There have been no significant changes in the last 48 hours. The medical team advise that every case has to be treated individually and people respond differently to treatment. We will advise of any changes in due course.

“Once again, Jonty’s family would like to thank everybody for their best wishes and kind messages of support.”

Earlier people were asked to refrain from phoning Beaumont Hospital for updates on Jonty’s condition as this is interfering with the day-to-day running of the hospital.

Evans was riding his Rio Olympic mount Cooley Rorkes Drift when he fell after fence 19B, the second element of the water complex in the CIC3*.

He was very swiftly attended to by medics on duty at Tattersalls and was transferred to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown before being brought to Beaumont Hospital which specialises in head injuries.

Cooley Rorkes Drift, who he secured last year when raising £500,000 through a crowd-funding campaign, was uninjured and is now safely back at Evans’ Gloucestershire yard.
