THE Connemara Pony Breeders Society is currently conducting a review into its electoral process after deeming the 2019 Council ballot invalid when anomalies were discovered in the electorate roll.

Five additional ballot papers were circulated in the election and when this came to the attention of the Society, it was decided that the ballot would have to be deemed invalid and new ballot papers circulated to all voting members.

The technical issue has nothing to do with any of the candidates standing for election and the Society has apologised to them for the delay in the election.

PRO for the CPBS Phyllis Jones confirmed yesterday to The Irish Field that the review is currently underway in the interest of proper governance.

“The review is ongoing at present. As soon as we have everything ready, we will be holding the election. This technical issue is nothing to do with any of the candidates. We hope it (the review) will be completed as soon as possible,” said Jones.

In a post dated September 19th on the CBPS Facebook page, the Society said: “Due to a technical issue, five additional ballot papers were circulated in the Connacht election. As a result, we have deemed the ballot invalid. New ballot papers will be circulated to all Connacht voting members. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

A further CPBS post this week said: “The Council regrets the delay caused to the 2019 elections and particularly apologies to the candidates involved in the current election. A further update will be available when the review has been completed.”
