ENTRIES close on Thursday next, July 12th, for the showing section of the two-day Tattersalls Ireland July Show which will be held in association with the Ward Union Hunt and Rolestown Show on Saturday and Sunday, July 21st and 22nd, with proceeds in aid of St Francis Hospice.

Over the two days, the showing section will cater for a large number of ridden and working hunter horse classes, some of which are qualifiers for next year’s Royal International Show at Hickstead. In addition to the usual hunter championship, from which the winner usually progresses to success at Dublin, this year’s show will feature the final of the inaugural Connolly’s Red Mills supreme champion of champions ridden hunter.

There will be two other finals staged on the Sunday, both for thoroughbreds, while the in-hand section, which is confined to young horses, includes qualifiers for Kildysart, Tinahely and Bantry. Producers of young event horses will be delighted to note that the show is again staging a qualifier for the Dubarry Burghley young event horse series for four and five-year-olds on the Saturday. This also has a closing date of next Thursday but has a separate entry procedure.

The feature events on the weekend’s show jumping schedule are the Mervue LST, the National and New Heights Grand Prix plus the Irish Sport Horse Stud Book five, six and seven-year-old classes.

As usual, the Irish Pony Society Kildare/North Leinster Area summer show takes place at the Co Meath sales complex on the Sunday. See the IPS website for details regarding 71 classes, 14 championships and two supreme championships.
