Judges announced

THE in-hand judges for the Midlands Connemara Pony show at Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Sunday July 23rd have been announced. They are Ms Madeleine Beckman from Sweden and Rachel Bennett Hamilton from Dublin. Full details of the popular show will be available shortly.

SBS inspections

SOME 18 stallions were approved at the SBS stallion inspections held in Gesves last weekend. The Belgian studbook produced four Olympic medal-winning show jumping horses at the Rio Olympics, including individual silver medallist Peder Fredericson’s All In. From 34 entries, two dressage, two pony and 14 show jumping stallions were approved, and the majority (15) of the successful stallions were three-year-olds.

BETA conference

THE annual BETA Feed Conference, sponsored by Premier Nutrition, takes place on Thursday, April 27th at Solihull Village Hotel, Britain. Open to those working in the feed and supplements industry, the one-day event will include presentations from:

* Karen Pratt and Keith Millar, of the Food Standards Agency, looking at legislative changes and the impact of Brexit on feed regulations.

* Professor Andy Durham, of Liphook Equine Hospital, providing an update on endocrinopathic laminitis and the work of the Equine Endocrinology Group.

* Solicitor Jonathan Pheasant, of Burges Salmon, highlighting terms and conditions, and anti-doping risks.
