MADAM,

ON behalf of Showing Ireland, I would like to thank Connolly’s Red Mills for their sponsorship and support in the running of the 2021 Champion of Champions League. Showing Ireland’s aim is to promote show horses as an equestrian discipline of its own right and to support the shows that provide us with the great venues in which to do this.

Connolly’s Red Mills have given us the anchor to do both, and we are very grateful to them for their very generous sponsorship which was worth €5,500 this year. This prize fund was substantially increased from previous years and Connolly’s Red Mills sister companies, Foran Equine and Carr & Day & Martin, also provided us with fantastic prizes in kind.

Jane Davis, Head of Marketing, Connolly’s Red Mills, said: “At Red Mills, we put the horse at the centre of everything we do, and the Champion of Champions enables us to showcase the important role nutrition plays when producing horses for the showring. Working with our partner brands, Foran Equine and Carr & Day & Martin, we have really enjoyed supporting the classes, it’s been great to receive so much positive feedback about the prizes on offer, which included vouchers for our Red Mills Care Range as well as products from the Foran Equine and Carr & Day & Martin ranges.

“There is huge skill and horsemanship involved in producing a show horse and good ring craft is a real art. The Red Mills Champion of Champions has shone a light on the sport this season and it has been brilliant to see the classes and the three finals including the newly added Riding Horse and Amateur Finals so well supported.”

Gratitude for Shows

I would also like to extend our gratitude to all 10 shows around the country who agreed to host the qualifiers for the Champion of Champions League and to Killossery Lodge Stud – the National Horse & Pony Championships for hosting the Final. Each show put in a superb performance to run under very difficult and restrictive circumstances, with an average of 300 entries per show, they should all be very proud. With everyone’s help, this all-Ireland competition has become the highlight of the showing season both for Professionals and Amateurs alike.
